Educational goal:

The aim of the course is that students master the areas of fieldbus technology and competition in these areas.

Educational outcome:

Students will be able to understand the principles of fieldbus technology, based on which they will be able to design and developed simpler automated devices and systems.

Course content:

Introduction in filedbus technology and protocols. Standards in filedbus technology. Real time characteritics. Examples of fieldbuses: ASI, IO Link, CAN, Interbus, Profibus, Modbus, Industrial Ethernet, Foundation Fieldbus. Interfaces: RS-232, RS-485, RS-422, USB. Application of wireless communication systems Bluetooth, WiFi, ZigBee. Wireless sensor networks and their application in different applications. Protocols in industrial communication networks. Examples of the application of industrial communication networks. Application of CAN and Lin protocol in the automotive industry. IoT system concept. Architecture of the IoT system and its implementation in different industrial applications.

Teaching methods:

Teaching is conducted through lectures and exercises. During the exercises the student is required to do practice-oriented tasks. Knowledge testing is carried out through two tests and the final exam, while before that student has to do all the exercises provided. The final exam is in written form.
