Acquiring basic knowledge about the construction and dynamics of motor vehicles, and about the configuration, function, and diagnostics of mechatronic systems in a motor vehicle.

The ability of the student to independently and within the team perform and participate in the procedures of development, maintenance and diagnostics of mechatronic systems on motor vehicles in the field of mechanical engineering.

The concept of the vehicle. Basic functional units, systems and circuits. Elements, function and operating mode of transmission, braking system, suspension system and steering system. Force acting on the vehicle. Pneumatic wheel rolling mechanism, tangential reaction, sliding and gripping. Traction-speed characteristics of the vehicle, performance of the vehicle. Lateral dynamics, handling and stability. Vibration characteristics of the vehicle. Mechatronic systems in motor vehicles, functions and roles. Types and basic characteristics of sensors, actuators and controllers in motor vehicles. Practical reading and interpretation of the sensor signal. Communication networks and principles of message transmission between system elements. Systems for driving dynamics, driver assistance and autonomous driving: the physical basics of functioning; Elements, configurations and characteristics; Principles and strategies for system control. Systems for preventing wheel locking and slipping, the lateral dynamics control, gearbox control, suspension systems control, autonomous driving elements. Elements of control of electric and hybrid drive systems of vehicles.

Teaching forms: Lectures, practical classes, fairs and companies visits, consultations.
