Educational goal:

Acquiring basic and applied knowledge in the field of geomatics, geoinformatics and geoinformation systems. Current GIS tools and areas of GIS implementation.

Educational outcome:

Acquired knowledge is used in professional subjects, in formulating and solving engineering problems using Geoinformation technologies.

Course content:

Lectures: Place and role of geoinformation systems (GIS). Introduction to GIS. Basic terms and terminology. Infrastructure Geospatial data. Spatial reference frames. Modeling of spatial objects, GIS data model, raster and Vector models, geometry, topology and topography of space. Decomposition of space elements. Architecture of GIS System. Spatial databases. Interpretation and presentation of space data. Introduction to geospatial visualization Data. Spatial analysis. GIS tools. Standardization in field of geoinformation systems and technologies - OpenGis, ISO TC211. Service-oriented architecture of GIS - three-layer architecture. Application of standards in realization of GIS system. Application of GIS systems in different areas. Exercises: Getting to know GIS tools. Application of the GIS visualization tool Geospatial data and spatial analysis. Introduction to standards.

Teaching methods:

Forms of teaching: lectures; Computer exercises; Consultation; Independent preparation of mandatory tasks. Knowledge check: guided and Independent preparation of mandatory tasks; Tests in written form; Final exam - in oral form.
