Educational goal:
Basic knowledge about concepts, history and basics of Cartography, about geographic maps and their properties. Introduction of students into the world of cartographic modeling and geospatial visualization.
Educational outcome:
After successfully mastering the thematic of the subject, the student will be trained with knowledge in the field of Cartography and its products.
Course content:
Cartography and its tasks. Development and division of Cartography. Map and its properties. Components of the map. Mathematical basis. Basic about cartographic projections. Sizes of maps. The flowing of cartographic mapping. Objects of displays. Names of objects. Types of cartographic displays. Topographic maps. Thematic maps. Atlases. Relief maps. Globes. Data sources. Cartographica. Basic geometric and graphic elements. Cartographic signs. Signature. Diagrams on the map. The color. Letter on the map. Basic about cartographic visualization. Cartographic generalization. Factors that affect cartographic generalization. Basic about cartographic generalization procedures. Cartographic reproduction. Digital production and multiplication procedures. Methods for updating the contents of the maps.
