Subject: Mathematical analysis 1 (17.GI107)

Native organizations units: Department of Fundamentals Sciences
General information:

Category Academic-general educative
Scientific or art field Teorijska i primenjena matematika
Interdisciplinary Yes
ECTS 7
Educational goal:

The objective of the course is to acquire basic knowledge in the field of Mathematical Analysis necessary for further studying of similar subjects and training students for abstract thinking. Student should be able to apply the acquired knowledge from the field of mathematical analysis in modeling of real problems from the field of technical sciences.

Educational outcome:

The student should learn the basic concepts of Mathematical Analysis - sequences, limit processes, differential and integral calculus, ordinary differential equations and numerical series and be able to apply them. The acquired knowledge is used in further education and in professional subjects. The student is able to create and solve mathematical models from professional subjects using acquired knowledge from Mathematical Analysis.

Course content:

Lectures: Field of real and complex numbers. Metric space. Sequences (convergence of asequence, real and complex sequences, complete metric space). Number series. Limits, continuity and uniform continuity of functions. Real functions of a real variable (limit, continuity, uniform continuity, differential calculus and application, indefinite integral, definite integral and application, improper integral). Real functions of several real variables (limits, continuity, uniform continuity, differential calculus and application). Ordinary differential equations of the first and the higher order. Linear differential equations of order n. Exercises: Corresponding examples from theoretical lectures are done in exercises, thus practicing the taught lectures and understanding them better.

Teaching methods:

Lectures, Numeric computing practice. Consultations. Lectures are combined. Theoretical part of the lectures is accompanied by typical examples in order of better understanding the matter taught in lectures. In practice, which accompanies lectures, typical problems are solved and the knowledge from the lectures is deepened. Besides lectures and practice, consultations are held on a regular basis.
