ECTS 5

To acquire basic and applied knowledge in the field of Gravimetry. Getting acquainted with instruments and methods for determining the acceleration of Earth's gravity.

After the subject has been studied, the student will be able to measure the acceleration of the Earth's gravity, process the measurements, and apply the results obtained in other geodisciplines.

Earth's gravity, gravity potential. Historical development of Gravimetry. Methods of gravimetric determination. Determining the acceleration of the Earth's gravity is based on the principle of free fall. Determining the acceleration of the Earth's gravity is based on the principle of physical pendulum. Dynamic and static methods for determining the acceleration of the Earth's gravity are more difficult. Sources of errors and the accuracy of determining the acceleration of the Earth's gravity are more difficult. Instruments for determining the acceleration of the Earth's gravity are more difficult. Ballistic instruments. Absolute gravitator. Relative gravitator. Gravimetric surveying. Gravimetric networks. Applying the acceleration of Earth's gravity in time. Satellite gravimetric methods and missions.

Forms of teaching: lectures; computer exercises; active participation; making tasks.
