Subject: Numerical Analysis of Structural Fire Resistance (17.GD039)

General information:

Category Scientific-professional
Scientific or art field Theory of Construction
ECTS 10

Extension of basic knowledge in the field of structural fire analysis and vulnerability of structures exposed to fire.

Acquired knowledge for application of advanced calculation methods for structural fire analysis.

Eurocode standards for structural fire design. Real fires. Design fire models: nominal, parametric, one-zone, two-zone multi-zone fire models, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models. Analysis of the behavior of materials, members and structures exposed to static and thermal loads. Nonlinear transient heat transfer analysis within structural elements by means of conduction, convection and radiation. Nonlinear transient elasto-plastic analysis of structures exposed to fire. Numerical modeling of coupled thermo-mechanical structural analysis using simulation software. Defining critical zones and protecting the structures with the aim of increasing their fire resistance.

Interactive work with students in order to continuously monitor the level of knowledge. Theoretical analysis and numerical modeling using advanced state-of-the-art software. The course prerequisites elaboration and defence of the term project.
