ECTS 10
Educational goal:

Acquiring specific knowledge in the field of packaging. Introducing students with current situation in the field and tendencies of future developments in the domain of packaging. Training students for independent work in the field as well as for the use of acquired knowledge in setting up experiments and their successful, methodologically correct implementation. Training students to solve experimental issues using appropriate methods and techniques. Developing analytical thinking and the ability to apply acquired knowledge in further professional and scientific work.

Educational outcome:

The necessary knowledge in the field of packaging is acquired. Ability to engage in scientific research in the field of packaging, the ability to interpret and solve problems related to the subject, and knowledge of basic theoretical directions. The part of the course is conducted through independent research work in the area related to the subject. Independent research work includes a detailed overview of the current scientific literature related to the field of packaging, writing short thesis and scientific papers related the subject.

Course content:

Research in the following areas: Current situation in the field of packaging, Advanced work in the design of packaging, Complex workflows in the production of paper and cardboard packaging, Complex workflows in the production of polymeric packaging, Complex workflows in the production of wooden packaging, Complex workflows in the production of metal packaging,Complex workflows in the production of glass packaging, Advanced methods for testing the properties of paper and cardboard packaging, Advanced methods for testing the properties of polymeric packaging, Advanced methods for testing the properties of wooden packaging, Advanced methods for testing the properties of metal packaging, Advanced methods for testing the properties of glass packaging, Application of 3D printing in the domain of packaging, Active and intelligent packaging, Identification elements of packaging, Packaging and augmented reality, Packaging and virtual reality, Advanced level of colorimetric control of printed packaging, Current state in the standardization of packaging production.

Teaching methods:

Teaching is performed in the form of lectures and through research. The lectures present the theoretical part of the material through the characteristic examples, using modern information and communication technologies. In addition to lectures, consultations are held regularly. The research involves the active study of primary scientific sources (journals, monographs and scientific books), performing numerical simulations and experiments, as well as writing scientific paper related to the themes within the course.
