General information:

Category Theoretical-methodological
Scientific or art field Urbanizam i planiranje regionalnog razvoja
ECTS 5

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with specificities in the field of pre-press production phase and mastering concepts related to pre-press in general, familiarization with specific requirements from the aspect of printing techniques, but also aspects of the printed product. Primarily, the goal of the course is to enable the student to understand and actively participate in gpre-press phase in accordance with the specific requirements of the printing technique and the product itself.

After the course, the student is familiar with the specific requirements in the field of pre-press in accordance with the selected printing technique and the product itself. He is able to understand and apply specific techniques related to pre-press, in accordance with the requirements of the printing process and the product.

Basic concepts related to pre-press. Specificity in the pre-press. Reasons for special approaches to pre-press according to the requirements of the printing technique. Specific requirements in the field of pre-press for the offset printing technique. Specific requirements in the field of pre-press for printing using flexographic printing technique. Specific requirements in the field of prepress for the screen printing technique. Specific requirements in the field of prepress for the rotogravure printing. Specific requirements in the field of pre-press for the pad printing. Specific requirements in the field of ppre-press for the digital printing. Rasterisation from the point of view of each of the printing technique (offet, gravure, flexo, screen, pad and digital printing). Specificity of colorimetric controls for each of the printing techniques (offet, gravure, flexo, screen, pad and digital printing). Practical classes follow the theoretical part where using the appropriate software tool, specific adjustments of images, text and graphics are carried out in accordance with the requirements of the printing technique (trapping, type of rastersation, color range, raster shapes and so on).

The course is organised in accordance with the modern didactic means and methods, interactive, in the form of lectures and computer exercises. Theoretical part of the course is presented in lectures. The lecture materials are available to students in .pdf format. Computer classes are organized in a way to supplement theoretical knowledge and enable their practical application. In addition to lectures and exercises, consultations are also held regularly.
