ECTS 5

The aim of the User Experience Design course is to familiarize students with organization and structure of designing the experience for the user. Within duration of this course, the students will be able to explore the whole process of the use experience design through creating basic concepts for product usability which is segmented in three parts: research, design and testing. In the research phase, the students will learn how to recognize user needs, who the actual users are and what are their requirements. The students will also learn how to develop concise briefs that include key features of certain product. In the design phase, the students will learn the basics of user interface design following the steps defined by the brief and they will also learn to develop digital prototypes. In the last phase, the students will explore methods and metrics for data analysis that will help them test the product usability in an efficient way.

After completing the pre-examination and examination phase of the course, students will be able to: define the scope of the design problem for which they will develop the product; define personas and transform their needs and requirements into design concepts; create wireframes to concretize the design and enable early user testing; conduct user tests with paper prototypes to get preliminary user feedback on the design concept and interactions; develop high-fidelity mockups that specify visual design elements of the product; develop digital prototypes that will efficiently test complex interactions systems within the product.

Theoretical part of the User Experience Course includes the following learning units: Introduction to the field of user experience design, Evolution of user experience design methodology, Process of defining the digital product, User experience design methodology, Defining personas and scope of the product, Analytical approach to segmentation of gathered data, Design thinking process, Process of developing sketches and wireframes, Design of prototypes, Product implementation process, Process of launching the product and Process of product iteration.

Teaching methodology is conducted interactively in the form of lectures and computer exercises and it includes lectures, computer exercises and consultations. The lectures present the theoretical part of the material, accompanied by examples to better understanding the subject matter. Computer exercises are organized in a way to complement the skills necessary for the practice of user experience design.
