Student learns about the field of contemporary art, about the ways in which she responds to today's world. The subject develops different ways of looking at contemporary art in order to fully understand the context and content. He is told that the nature of art has changed over the last fifty years thanks to the sensibility and awareness of the artist to react to the problems of the outside world. The student gets an overall picture of the topics in which contemporary art deals with and how they deal with concepts such as: geopolitics, religion, sexuality, mortality, memory or identity. Special emphasis is placed on the application of new technologies in the work process of creating an art piece.

Student can learn the ways in which contemporary arts respond to contemporary society. It acquires knowledge of why it is important that art corresponds and points to social problems in today's world. Understands how artwork can all become an engaged category of human thinking and why it matters. The subject presents the student with all the ways in which it is possible to make an artwork in the present time and which connection exists between new artistic technology and art. The student is presented the role of new possibilities of materials that certain artists use. In the course of the course, the student learns to what extent the theoretical thinking that is used in the field of philosophy, history and other social and natural sciences is present in the work process of contemporary art.

The subject examines the ways in which modern art is perceived and absorbed by today's world. The field of the subject is the most art and art theory of the last fifty years, with reference to earlier periods. In the course of the course, one examines the ways in which contemporary art represents social relations, geopolitics and terms such as body, sexuality, mortality, memory, identity and religion. Equally, the subject presents all fields of artistic activity with a special emphasis on new technologies in the field of artistic practices. The subject specifically pays attention to the work processes used by certain artists because they are a guideline in the field of new artistic practices. Within the lecture of a special whole, they were singled out for the performances of important artists and their working practices. Some of the names are: Bruce Nauman, Kader Attia, Giuseppe Penone, Miroslaw Balka, Rachel Whiteread, Antony Gormly, Adel Abdessemed, Mladen Miljanovic, Louis Bourgeois, Ai Wei Wei, Anselm Kiefer, Richard Serra, William Kentridge. Some of the topics of lectures: Power, sex and gender in contemporary art poetics, Figure in XX century Art, The object in the artistic process (house and bed), Material reinterpretations - The role of material in contemporary art, Materiality of unlimited space (Black Square ), Spectacle- procession- cortege- crowd, Religious and mythological body, Politics and art (social problems in the reflection of contemporary art)

Lectures, projects, participation of students in professional and scientific work. Lectures are performed with a PDF presentation which consists of reproduction of artworks that support a specific topic presented and numerous video attachments that additionally support understanding of the theme. Some topics chosen by students are visual work supported by text that explains the work. Visual work implies one of the categories of artistic activity. Presentation of visual work is explained at the end of the semester in the form of lectures. Presentation is the final result of students' work and based on it the student is formed an assessment.
