ECTS 8

Acquiring knowledge, competences and academic skills in the field of printing techniques, as a stage of graphic production in which prints are produced on various substrates. Development of creative abilities and mastering of specific practical skills in the field of printing techniques. The intention of the teacher is that through this course a student: learn basic concepts and definitions in the field of printing techniques, to understand the use of these concepts in the context of learning, problem set up and problem solving, develop the ability to recognize problems in the field of printing techniques in terms of identification, formulation and possible problem resolution, as well to meet the basic principles of engineering judgment and decision making.

After successfully completing the course, the student is able to solve specific problems in the field of printing techniques. Mastering methods, procedures and processes in obtaining prints and examining their properties and quality using scientific methods. Ability to be self-critical and to think critically and approach in the field of printing techniques. After this course, the student is able to: connect acquired knowledge with the following courses and apply it in engineering disciplines that include printing techniques into their tools, communicate with other engineers and work in the team, think creatively, demonstrate acquired knowledge and skills and use them to design new solutions in engineering, but also to independently continue to learn about novelties in printing industry.

Offset printing: Sheet fed offset printing, Web offset printing, Printing unit, Ink unit, Dampening unit, printing quality, Digital printing: Electrophotography, Inkjet, Magnetography, Ionography, Thermography, Photography, Elcography, Toner jet, Nanography; Screen printing; Gravure printing, pad printing; Letterpress printing, Flexo printing, Special printing techniques; Printing techniques on special surfaces; Modern measurement control systems in printing techniques

Teaching is held using contemporary didactic means and methods, interactively in the form of lectures, computer and laboratory classes. Theory is presented in lectures, followed by the examples and solutions simulation for better understanding of the course content. The lecture materials are available to students in .pdf format. Computer excercises are organized to supplement the theoretic lectures, and they cover application of prepress software, while laboratory excercises are organized to practically apply the acquired knowledge using the available laboratory equipment. Students are obliged to do a seminary work as well, which presents another pre-exam obligation. Apart from lectures and excercises, consultations are regularly held.
