In this training course students will be acquainted with the development of the book. The course also includes learning process of utilitarian art print and form techniques as well as the connection between print and propaganda production.

Introduction to the basic elements of graphic tradition and the acquisition of basic knowledge in the field of fine graphic art. The acquired knowledge is used in the profession, independent work and further education.

Developmental forms of the book. Book Illuminations and Illustrations. Beginning of the press. A review of the history of printing techniques. The cultural aspect of printmaking techniques. Traditional printmaking techniques. Woodcut, copperplate cut, dry needle, mezzotint, aquatint, lithography, screen printing. Graphic forms. Art of multi-original. Art graphics of the 15th and 16th centuries. Art graphics of the 17th and 18th centuries. Art graphics of the 19th century. 20th-century graphic art. Art graphics of the Far East. Contemporary art graphic techniques and means of expression.

The teaching process is carried out using modern educational tools and methods, interactively, in the form of lectures and computer exercises. The theoretical part of the course, presented by examples and simulation of problem-solving, was given during lectures to facilitate understanding. Lectures are available to students in .pdf format. Computer exercises are organised to complement knowledge in graphics programs. In addition to lectures and practical work, consultations are also held regularly.
