Educational goal:

Acquiring of basic principles of usability engineering methods for the design and evaluation of infrastructure systems software. Includes the study of human-machine interactions, user interface characteristics and design strategies, software evaluation methods, and related guidelines and standards.

Educational outcome:

At the completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Describe the human centered design process and usability engineering process and their roles in infrastructre system design and development. 2. Discuss usability design guidelines, their foundations, assumptions, advantages, and weaknesses. 3. Develop a user interface based on analysis of human needs and prototype system. 4. Practise software usability test and write a study.

Course content:

Introduction to Human-Centered Design and infrastructure systems usability challenges. Usability, accessibility and related concepts. Usability methods. Guidance. Identifying Tasks, Stakeholders and Context, Needs assessment. User Interaction Capabilities. User Cognitive and Affective Capabilities. Grooup Characteristics. Specifying needs and requirements. Scenarios and Use-cases. Interaction Design. Implementation Issues. Usability testing methods.
