Native organizations units: Department of Power, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering
General information:

Category Theoretical-methodological
Scientific or art field Electronics
ECTS 6

Students acquire knowledge in the field of the application of impulse circuits, important in certain specialized fields of electronics. Making a link between the theoretical and practical knowledge in this field.

Students who complete the course are able to: 1.design and apply impulse amplifiers; 2.design specialized circuits for optimal semiconductor switch control; 3.analyse and design specialized impulse circuits, including the computer-aided simulations and carry out measurements in the laboratory; 4.prevent the occurrence and transmission of impulse noise in electronic devices.

The theory and application of impulse amplifiers. The impulse noise protection. Special semiconductor switching components (fast diodes, tunel diodes, transistors, NEMT transistors, different MOSFET structures, special teristore structures, IGBT, MCT and other components): operating methods, characteristics, modeling, optimal operation. Special shape-forming circuits. Fast comparators. Characteristics of logic circuits. New families of logic circuits (low-voltage CMOS and BiCMOS circuits, ECL- highly integrated circuits, the new GaAs circuits): the basic gates, characteristics, application. The transmission of critical signals in fast digital circuits. The transmission of digital signals through bands/pathways. Nonstandard applications of modern logic circuits. Impulse integrated circuits for special applications (switch drives, electromagnet actuators, laser diodes, etc. ) Measurements on impulse circuits.

Lectures. Auditory practice. Tutorial work. The student makes homeworks and seminar work. The student does a project covering one part of the course matter, chosen in accordance with their interests in order to be able to complete work on the master thesis more successfully. The examination is comprised of the project oral defence.
