Educational goal:

Acquiring basic knowledge in the field of motors and vehicles. Acquiring knowledge about modern vehicles where electronics is applied: Environmental standards. Communication systems in vehicles. Sensors and actuators. Additional devices such as AC etc. Vehicle protection and positioning, Hybrid and electric vehicles. Acquiring knowledge on vehicle diagnostics. Basics of creating software with high degree of safety.

Educational outcome:

- Ability to design electronic systems in vehicles - Ability to do diagnostics of vehicles with electronic systems - Ability to design sensors and actuators in vehicles - Ability to design systems for vehicle monitoring and safety - Ability to design vehicles with hybrid and electric drive - Knowledge of environmental standards

Course content:

Motors and vehicles-basic characteristics. Ignition systems in vehicles. Fuel injection systems. CAN system. Environmental standards for vehicles – OBD II, EURO etc. Catalysts. Diesel engines. Airbags. Vehicle safety systems ABS, ASR, ESP and the like. Electronic automatic transmissions. Sensors in the vehicles: lambda sensor, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, speed sensors, etc. Vehicle protection systems. Air conditioners. Systems for satellite vehicle tracking. Diagnostics and repairing errors. Electric vehicles. Hybrid vehicles. Vehicles powered by fuel cells. Practical work on diagnostics and elimination of errors on a typical modern vehicle.
