Educational goal:

Acquisition of basic knowledge in knowledge management, especially in biomedical and nuclear engineering.

Educational outcome:

After completion of the course, the student will be able to: - understand the meaning of technical knowledge as an asset and its application, approach and practice; - critically appraise the nature of technical knowledge and its management; - apply methods and tools of knowledge management - get ability of risk assessment in this field and interpretation of risk as physical quantity which needs metrology assurance and uncertainty statement; - get specific competences in nuclear knowledge management methodology developed by IAEA

Course content:

Introduction to knowledge and knowledge concepts. Knowledge as a resource. Organizational aspects of technical knowledge management. Knowledge management approaches and strategies. Quality management. Knowledge management in different applications particularly in nuclear technologies applied in biomedicine. Knowledge innovation. Information management. Methods and tools for explicit knowledge capture. Organizational issues in knowledge transfer. Intellectual property. Practical work.

Teaching methods:

Lectures. Seminar assignment. Practical work. Consultations. Student obligation during the course is to do one seminar assignment that is graded with a maximum 60 points. Part of the material which represents a logical unit can be a subject of two colloquiums (which are not the of examination prerequisites) or at the final exam. Practical work will be individually assessed and the mean grade of these exercises make up to 30 %. Part of the material which forms a logical unit may be taken as two colloquium exam. Final exam is consisted of written and oral exam (up to 35 %). Exam grade is formed on the basis of attendance and performed practical work and the success of the seminar's final exam
