ECTS 5

The course objective is to study the physical properties of electrical machines of special construction and their characteristics in a regular operation regime. Furthermore, student becomes familiar with the design of machine parts and exploitation occurrences. Further knowledge is acquired in the field of electromagnetic energy convergion, electric machines, and devices of energy electronics as well as in the field of electric motor drives used in special electric machines.

Students should be able to not only recognize, but fully understand and conduct the exploitation and maintenance of these machines. Student is able to understand the basic principles of electo-mechanic energy conversion carried out by electric machines of special design- and to understand the basic features and operation principles of electrical rotor machines of special design.

Synchronous motors with permanent magnets: Types of rotors depending on the shape of permanent magnets, basic relations, the torque, equivalent schemes, the block diagram, functions, transferred occurrences, characteristics. Stepping motors: types of stepping motors, the torque, power and voltage, the block diagram, functions, the transferred occurrences, static and dynamic stability, step motors control and power, the static torque, the position error, the step impact on the torque and power, the limit torque, characteristics. Direct current servo motors: servo motors driven by rotor power, constant regulation, power loss, the possibility of torque constant change, the impact of power on motor response, the function block diagram , servo motors powered by excitation current, functions, the block diagram and operation stability. Brushless direct current motors: power, basic relations, block diagrams, functions, motor torque and power. Selsins: types, basic relations, operation errors, static and dynamic stability, block diagrams, speed of response, oscillations.

The course is carried out in the form of lectures, auditory and laboratory practice. At the auditory practice, students do exercises in order to be able to design programs of operation simulations and other computer work.
