ECTS 5

Acquiring basic knowledge of different con-cepts of contemporary power systems and their development trends. Covering complex problems in the field of analysis, management, operation planning and optimization of power systems operation. Acquiring knowledge on specialized algorithms and specialized soft-ware for solving of complex problems.

Knowledge of specialized algorithms in power engineering. Familiarizing students with com-plex problems in the field of analysis, man-agement, operation planning and optimization of distributive system operation and making students capable to model and solve such problems by using specialized algorithms. Making students able to practically use ad-vanced distributive management system.

Introduction - Different contemporary power systems concepts worldwide. New resources and technologies and their influences on modern trends, challenges and expectations. Smart Grid. Mathematical models and basic functions (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Reliability). Network monitoring (SCADA, State Estimation) and network analysis (technical and non-technical losses, relay protection, harmonics, contingency, etc.). Operation planning and optimization (reconfiguration, Volt/Volt Control, Demand Response, capacitor/sensor/voltage regulator placement, network reinforcement, etc.). Complex functions (network Builder, Load Profile Tool, Closed Loop, FLISR, OMS, MDM, DER, DSDR, planning, low voltage, training simulator, etc.). Integrated software system for network control and monitoring, operation planning and optimization, network analysis and network development planning. Analysis of usefulness of the specialized software usages and practical experiences of their usages.
