Subject: Modern approaches to the ecology of combustion (17.DZ55)

General information:

Category Professional-applicative
Scientific or art field Environment Protection Engineering
ECTS 10

The aim of the course is to enable students to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion process, as well as methods for air pollution reduction.

Students should use the acquired knowledge in further training and education, as well as in solving practical engineering problems from the field of combustion and air pollution.

Fuel (types, characteristics, composition, calorific value); Combustion statistics (quantity and composition of combustion products in different combustion phases and for different types of fuels); Combustion dynamics (chemical equilibrium, chemical reaction rate, kinetics of combustion components combustion processes); Physical and physical-chemical phenomena in the combustion process; Distribution of combustion products according to the criteria for combustion and toxicity - environmental aspects of combustion; Gaseous combustion products - mechanisms of formation, impact on the combustion process and reduction possibilities; Procedures for reducing the emissions of sulfur, nitrogen and carbon oxides and hydrocarbons; Particulate matter (PM) - the mechanisms of formation, the effect of combustion and the possibilities of purification of gases.
