Acquiring advanced knowledge and specific technological skills in the field of research and contemporary approaches in the field of information system reengineering. Understanding the importance of reengineering in the process of information system modernization.
Enabling students to analyse existing approaches and solutions in the area of reengineering of information systems, as well as introducing them into various applications of the state-of-the-art reengineering of information systems and databases.
Contemporary approaches and methods in the field of reengineering of information systems. Advanced techniques for discovering knowledge about business processes, concepts, methods and tools for the information system evolution process. Model driven approaches to reengineering of information systems. Methods and techniques of database schema transformations in support of the information system reengineering process. Examples of practical applications. Independent study and research work in the field of contemporary approaches in the reengineering of information systems. The analysis and active use of the primary research sources.
The forms of teaching activities: lectures, research work, project development, and consultations. Throughout the whole teaching process, students are encouraged to perform intensive communication, critical thinking, independent research work, and active participation in teaching activities. Students are obliged to do the project alone. Writing a research paper is recommended and encouraged.
