Understanding the concepts and systems for scientific research activity. Gaining the knowledge and skills for design and implementation of scientific research management systems.

Upon successful completion of the course students are able to use existing scientific research management systems, as well as to specify and implement information system for the needs of scientific-research institution.

Scientific research activity basic concepts and relations between them: researcher, institution, scientific project, scientific-research output. Types of scientific-research outputs. Models for scientific-research outputs' evaluation. Citation databases. Scientific-research outputs' searching. Standardization in scientific research management systems. Standardization in scientific-research outputs' searching. Software platform for creation of institutional repositories. Networks of institutional repositories.

Lectures, practical computer work, project work and tutorial work. Using the necessary didactic tools, the lectures present the course content and stimulate the active participation of students by asking them to present a part of the course content assigned to them. The practical knowledge required by the course in obtained through computer practice. The student is required to do the project work on his own.
