Educational goal:

Acquiring knowledge about advanced methods and systems of metal forming. Development of scientific competence, academic and practical skills in in the fields of bulk and sheet forming. Development of competence required for application of a broad spectrum of information technologies which are essential for metal forming technologies.

Educational outcome:

Fundamental knowledge of advanced technological processes and elements of manufacturing systems in metal forming. Gaining competences for autonomous solving of practical and theoretical problems in design of advanced technological processes of metal forming using scientific methods and procedures. Mastering of creative approach towards developing advanced metal forming methods. Ability to create different strategic concepts of advanced methods in the field metal forming.

Course content:

Introduction to bulk and sheet metal forming methods. Classification of the methods. Advanced methods for determination of stress-strain state and other relevant process parameters in bulk and sheet metal processes. Friction, friction models, influence of friction to forming process, friction reduction. Modern approaches to metal forming process design. Analysis of typical bulk metal (upsetting and forging of axially symmetrical workpieces, drawing extrusion, precise forging ...) and sheet metal (bending, deep drawing, blanking, spinning…) processing methods. Modern bulk and sheet metal processing systems. Elements of modern metal forming systems. New driving systems for mechanical and hydraulic presses. Presses for hot forming of ultra-strength steel sheets. Automation of manufacturing system in field of metal forming.

Teaching methods:

Lectures, study research work and consultations. The lectures provide a theoretical part of the material using modern equipment and information and communication technologies. Through lectures, a student acquires and mastered contemporary scientific knowledge, scientific methods and procedures that enable him to become independent research work. In addition to lectures, consultations are also held regularly. Study research work includes all forms of teaching that are in the function of directly training a student for research, writing scientific papers and making a doctoral dissertation. Study research work includes active monitoring of primary scientific sources, organization and execution of numerical simulations and experimental research.
