ECTS 10
Educational goal:

Acquiring knowledge about modern approaches to additive- and virtual manufacturing technologies. Development of scientific competence, academic and practical skills in this domain. Development of competence required for application of a broad spectrum of information technologies which are essential for additive and virtual manufacturing.

Educational outcome:

Fundamental knowledge of the subject of Additive Manufacturing and Virtual Reality technologies. Gaining competences for autonomous solving of practical and theoretical problems, and application of scientific method in the subject domain. Mastering of creative approach towards developing new methods and approaches in the subject domain.

Course content:

Theoretical foundations underlying the processes used in additive manufacturing technologies - (1) VAT Photopolymerization, (2) Powder bed fusion, (3) Material extrusion of thermoplastic materials. Methods for characterization of materials used in the domain of the three groups of technologies. Application of Virtual Reality (VR) technologies in engineering applications - software environments for the development of VR applications in the field of manufacturing engineering, and their practical application.

Teaching methods:

Lectures, study research work and consultations. The lectures provide a theoretical part of the material using modern equipment and information and communication technologies. Through lectures, a student acquires and mastered contemporary scientific knowledge, scientific methods and procedures that enable him to become independent research work. In addition to lectures, consultations are also held regularly. Study research work includes all forms of teaching that are in the function of directly training a student for research, writing scientific papers and making a doctoral dissertation. Study research work includes active monitoring of primary scientific sources, organization and execution of numerical simulations and experimental research.
