Acquiring knowledge about modern approaches to the development and application of new technologies using renewable energy sources. Fundamental knowledge and understanding of the significance, possibilities, potentials, as well as projections of the effects of the application of technologies using renewable energy sources. It is necessary for students to analyze, through critical thinking, the potential effects of applying new technologies on the global energy situation and the environment.
After this course, students will thoroughly understand all aspects of the use of renewable energy technologies. Students will be able to independently solve practical and theoretical problems in this field.
The importance of the energy sector and renewable energy. Methods and available technologies for the use of various renewable energy sources. Analysis of the effects on the environment in the use of renewable energy technologies during and after the life cycle of the analyzed technologies. Energy storage. Examples of technical and economic validation of each processed technology. Emerging new technologies for using renewable energy sources. Projections of changes in the electricity market due to higher production of electricity from renewable energy sources. Predicting changes of energy mix, economic-fiscal mechanisms to increase the use of these technologies. Using the available software tools for estimating potentials, modeling the potential effects of global/ national measures to implement new technologies on the market, etc.
Lectures, study research work and consultations. The lectures provide a theoretical part of the materials with the use of modern equipment and information and communication technologies. In addition to lectures, consultations are also held regularly. Through lectures, a student acquires and mastered contemporary scientific knowledge, scientific methods and procedures that enable him to conduct independent research work. Study research work also keeps active monitoring of primary scientific sources.
