General information:

Category Scientific-professional
Scientific or art field Termotehnika, termoenergetika i upravljanje energijom
Interdisciplinary No
ECTS 10
Educational goal:

One of the most successful measures in reducing the consumption of primary energy is to use of technological improvements in energy systems and development of new energy flow control procedures. This subject will cover energy efficiency as a source for reduction of energy consumption and the emission of the harmful gasses. Knowledge of ways to save energy in industry and building sectors.

Educational outcome:

Energy efficiency should be considered as a set of organizational activities which are implemented inside of defined boundaries defined by energy system with the purpose of input energy reduction, harmful gasses emission and energy expenditures, with the unchanged status of the services and making a profit in the production process in the defined system. Ability to independently solve practical problems encountered by industrial enterprises and buildings in the field of energy efficiency.

Course content:

Importance of energy management and rational use of energy; Defining of energy flows in industry and building sectors; Relations between energy and production; Energy indicators and energy production and consumption profiles; Energy consumption monitoring. Energy efficiency analysis in industry (boiler plants; steam and/or hot water distributive pipe network and end users; cooling and compressed air systems; electrical systems) and buildings (buildings characteristics profile, HVAC systems; electrical consumers). Energy savings measures: technical (energy efficiency improvement of appliances; waste heat usage; recuperation; heat energy accumulation…) and organizational (energy management: team effort and value of hierarchically valued tasks and activities; motivation and awareness of employees; initiation and incentive in argument for rational energy consumption).

Teaching methods:

Lectures, study research work and consultations. The lectures provide a theoretical part of the material using modern equipment and information and communication technologies. Through lectures, a student acquires and mastered contemporary scientific knowledge, scientific methods and procedures that enable him to become independent research work. In addition to lectures, consultations are also held regularly. Study research work includes all forms of teaching that are in the function of directly training a student for research, writing scientific papers and making a doctoral dissertation. Study research work includes active monitoring of primary scientific sources, organization and execution of numerical simulations and experimental research.
