Educational goal:

Understanding and mastering thermodynamic principles and laws, as well as knowledge of the state and changes in the state of matter involved in the processes of transformation of energy.

Educational outcome:

Raising the general educational level, as well as further development of systematics in the work of students. Solving concrete problems using scientific methods and procedures, mastering the procedures and processes of research and applying knowledge in practice, in order to successfully follow the teaching of doctoral studies as well as to engage in scientific and research work.

Course content:

Theory classes: State of matter, the equation of state. Thermodynamics of ideal and real gases. Thermodynamic properties of complex thermodynamic systems, thermodynamic functions, potentials, conditions of equilibrium in multiphase and multicomponent systems. Solutions - ideal and real solutions, state diagrams, thermodynamic processes and the application of thermodynamic laws. Thermodynamics of chemical transformations - a material balance of chemical reactions, chemical equilibrium, application of the law of thermodynamics. The second law of thermodynamics, application to processes in complex systems, thermodynamic temperature scale. Thermodynamic equilibrium. Exergy analysis in complex thermodynamic systems. Thermal energy accumulation. Kinetic theory of gases. Transport phenomena, mean free path, viscosity, thermal conductivity, diffusion.

Teaching methods:

Lectures, study research work and consultations. The lectures provide a theoretical part of the material using modern equipment and information and communication technologies. Through lectures, a student acquires and mastered contemporary scientific knowledge, scientific methods and procedures that enable him to become independent research work. In addition to lectures, consultations are also held regularly. Study research work includes all forms of teaching that are in the function of directly training a student for research, writing scientific papers and making a doctoral dissertation. Study research work includes active monitoring of primary scientific sources, organization and execution of numerical simulations and experimental research.
