General information:

Category Scientific-professional
Scientific or art field Termotehnika, termoenergetika i upravljanje energijom
Interdisciplinary No
ECTS 10
Educational goal:

Training the students for work on the jobs of design, exploitation, engineering and constulting from the field of thermal power plants on the level of basic engineering.

Educational outcome:

Fundamental knowledge on thermal power plants, detailed knowledge on the processes in thermal power plants, calculation criteria, as well as knowledge of calculation of all of the processes in thermal power plants and their operational regime on the level of basic engineering. Equipment design of thermal power plants on the level of basic engineering.

Course content:

General energy framework (energy, energy systems, TPP, types of TPPs, ways of TPP presentations, TPP structure). Power and heat energy systems in Serbia (power production system, heat energy systems in Belgrade and Novi Sad. Preliminary definitions of TPP (estimation of energy needs - fitting TPP in commerce system - fitting TPP in energy system - by energy and power - and fitting TPP in environment. Fundamental processes in TPP (combustion process, heat transfer process, flow process, energy transformation process in TPP - with steam turbines, with gas turbines with cooling and with combined steam and gas turbines with cooling - material and operation life degradation process, estimation of failure risks). Basic TPP equipment (steam generators, steam and gas turbines, power equipment). Basic technologies of TPP operation (stationary - design and non-calculated modes and unsteady - transient and disturbed modes). TPP regulatoin (ways and effects - advantages and dissadvantages). Auxiliary TPP systems (cooling system, environmental protection, fuel delivery system, slag and ash dispatch system, water treatment, system of auxiliary steam). Operation economy of TPP.

Teaching methods:

Lectures, study research work and consultations. The lectures provide a theoretical part of the material using modern equipment and information and communication technologies. Through lectures, a student acquires and mastered contemporary scientific knowledge, scientific methods and procedures that enable him to become independent research work. In addition to lectures, consultations are also held regularly. Study research work includes all forms of teaching that are in the function of directly training a student for research, writing scientific papers and making a doctoral dissertation. Study research work includes active monitoring of primary scientific sources, organization and execution of numerical simulations and experimental research.
