Subject: Advanced technologies in computer networks (17.DE522)

General information:

Category Professional-applicative
Scientific or art field Telecommunications and Signal Processing
ECTS 10

The aim of the course is to: • Describe and explain in detail how to apply different advanced information and communication technologies in modern computer networks • Explain students, how to use different simulators and educational models, and illustrate and practically demonstrate the operation principles of new network technologies and protocols • Explain the model of modern computer network • Explain and interprets the concept of smart service, and support students to correctly conclude about their value for a modern society development • Explain in the case of a smart government, how to combine and use variety of advanced technologies in the transition from e-government to a smart government.

The student is able to: • Recognize the real need in society for a particular service and to independently apply some of the advanced ICT technologies for service implementation in the network • Use and combine different ICT technologies and creates a new network architecture design • Discover shortcomings in the existing e-government solution and to apply advanced ICT technology to create more intelligent service.

• Advanced technologies of network infrastructure virtualization • Implementation of new methods in the clustering of computer network resources • Non-relation databases and their application in cloud • Implementation of the Database as a Service model • Use a smart data storage technologies in building advance logical data warehouse - building SAN and NAS network. • Application of distributed file systems - Gluster and Hadoop • Methods for static and dynamic load balancing in modern computer networks - DNS and Proxy load balancing on the application layer • Software-defined networks • Applications for managing intelligent devices from cloud • Implementation of advanced technology for service bundling in the area of smart government

• Lectures - based on a student-centered method of education • Auditory practice - based on appliance Teaching Through Debate method • Laboratory practice (working with Cisco Packet Tracer Simulator and other network simulator), where it will be applied method of learning through competition among students • Consultations based on a active learning method.
