Subject: Selected chapters in control of electrical power sources (17.DE317)

General information:

Category Scientific-professional
Scientific or art field Energetska elektronika, mašine, pogoni i obnovljivi izvori električne energije
ECTS 10

The aim of the course is to train students in the art of the design and the analysis of the systems related to the electrical power sources and generators. They include the equipment related to the synchronous generators regulation, regulation of the synchronous motors in reversible power plants, control and protection devices and algorithms applied in the electrical energy sources, including the AC and DC current power converters in distributed electrical power sources, and power converters applied in general control and power supply applications. The scope of the course includes synchronous generators and motors, protection and control applications in electrical power sources, auxiliary power supplies and electrical motor drives, and distributed power generation.

Student is able to design and analyze control system and algorithms included in the various types of electrical power sources.

Synchronous generator model. Types and structures of the synchronous generator automatic voltage regulators. Synchronous generator excitation systems implemented with the exciter. Limiter and protection functions realized within the synchronous generator automatic voltage regulator. Power system stabilizer. Advanced control functions implemented within synchronous generator automatic voltage regulator. Types and structures of turbine regulators. Protective and control devices and algorithms implemented within electrical power sources. Synchronous motor drives in the reversible power plants. Auxiliary regulated power supplies and electrical motor drives, with the rotor shaft sensor and sensorless. Distributed power generation. Practical part of the course. Application of software tools for the system models simulation and analysis.
