Goals are introduction to historical and cultural context of art and technology, first of all in the twentieth century, work and ideas of artists which research new interdisciplinary and interactive forms, as well as work of scientists which developed information technologies, scientific and philosophic ideologies that influenced art.
After finishing course from student is expected knowing of historical development interdisciplinary field in which new technologies, art and science are related, as well as understanding and critical attitude toward use of new technologies in the scope of visual and performance art, and culture. Student is expected to have built personal views, ability to present them, argument and problematize verbally and ability for practical use of these knowledge in new or unknown environment.
Review of work and ideas artist and scientists which were pioneers in erasing boundaries that traditionally existed between artistic and technological disciplines. Historical overview of production in the field of art and new technologies with case studies of selected art movements (Gesamtkunstwerk, futurism, cubo futurism, bauhaus, cybernetics, happening, video art, biotechnological art,virtuel art, net art). Introduction to digital art, esthetics, strategies, socio-cultural aspirations and key concepts (integrations, interactivity, hypermedia, immersion and narrativity).
Lectures in given topics, practical work on classes and workshops. Consultations. Exam.
