The goal of the subject is that the students will be acquainted with the economic processes that are indispensable in the understanding of the dynamic of culture and art. The students will appropriate knowledge on the complex co-imbrication of the culture/art and economics. We intend to explicate the penetration of the economy into the culture, and vice versa. The students are supposed to appropriate critical knowledge on the contemporary processes that determine the socio-economic and socio-cultural tendencies.

The students are supposed to dispose with the theoretical and practical knowledge concerning the economic dimensions of culture/art. The learning of this discipline will them enabled to develop the accounts in relation to the socio-economic status of culture/art in the contemporary society, and to reflect the multidimensional relations between the economics and culture/art. This type of knowledge is relevant for he managerial functions in the culture/art.

Culture as the common good and the commodification of culture. Economic dimensions of the society of spectacle. Genesis of the market of art. Market of rock-music. Economics of museums and theatre. Economics of film. Economics of books. Culture in the international trade. Determination of prices and economic-monetaristic dimension of culture. Fordism and post-fordism: creative economy and culture. Firms and markets in production of art. Concept of cultural industry. Economic aspect of the managerial concept of culture. Economical aspect of media and advertizing. Art/culture and socio-economics.

The lectures include verbal and visual presentations with the emphasis on the dialogical-participative forms of discussions.
