Learning the most important terminology related to professional environment. Developing the strategies for understanding an English-medium text. Practicing reading and understanding authentic English texts related to their field of studies. Developing oral and written communication related to the use of professional vocabulary and more complex grammatical structures.

Students should already use a range of terminology related to their field of studies. They can read literature from the field and communicate about professional topics, using vocabulary and sentence structures characteristic for their discourse community.

Reading contemporary professional textx in English related to diverse aspects and fields in their field of studies. Developing strategies for understanding a professional text, like skimming, scanning, comparing sources, using context, using background knowkedge, etc. Mastering the most typical terminology. Acquiring linguistic functions such as comparison, classification, purpose, description, cause and effect, etc. Most common prefixes, suffixes, compounds and collocations. Passives, participles. Reduced relative clauses (active and passive), reduced time clauses (active and passive).

The emphasis is on students' activities during the class, their interaction with the teacher and among themselves. The communicative approach to language teaching. Exercises are created to facilitate the understanding of the text, and practice certain vocabulary and other characteristics of ESP. Some exercises are designed to encourage students to use a wider knowledge of the area they are studying, as well as to use the comments and explanations, in order to additionally practice their language skills.
