Acquiring the necessary theoretical basis for understanding the role and importance of design and interiors in the contemporary society. Understanding design and interior design as a specific form of communication. The study of relationships between the interior design and the external phenomena such as economic, social and cultural context, art and science.

After the course, students gain a theoretical basis for understanding the language of modern design and interiors, as well as their role in contemporary culture. It is expected to establish an analytical relationship to the objects of design and to observe and analyze design beyond its visual appereance.

Interior Design - Definition, Scope and Boundaries; Interior/ Exterior Relations; Reception and Perception of the Interior Space; Typology of Interior; The Culture of Design; Interior Design as a Form of Communication; Design, Interior Design and Consumer Society; Iconic Design; Design, Interior Design and Contemporary Technologies; Design, Interior Design and Contemporary Art; Design and Sustainability.
