General information:

Category Scientific-professional
Scientific or art field Architectural-Urbanistic Planning, Design and Theory
ECTS 5

Introducing students with the issues of transdisciplinary reading of spatial practices, as an operationalization mode of a human – space relation. Introduction to the advanced interpretations of spatial levels and the phenomenology of space segment that refers to the establishment of abstract spatial categories and especially liminal spaces. Understanding the critical and applicable potentials of the liminal spatial phenomena in diverse spatial practices.

Ability to understand the phenomenon of spatial practices as a transdisciplinary phenomenon with the possibility of numerous creative applications in architecture and other disciplines. Ability to interpret advanced spatial levels and to creatively upgrade the spatial hierarchy to which they belong. The skill of creative interpretation of the liminal spatial phenomena, especially liminal spaces in artistic and interdisciplinary practices, as well as the newly established polyvalent functions of the architectural spatial framework.

Lecturing consists of the following thematic units: Phenomenology of architecture - general introduction; The phenomenon of spatial practices through its transdisciplinary determination; Categorization of spatial levels and liminal space as an equally abstract and real spatial phenomenon; Ephemeral architectural framework as a spatial framework for the establishment of liminal spaces; Creative interpretation of the newly established functions of space; Theoretical construction of spatial phenomena - procedures, analyzes, classifications and interpretations; Possibilities for the further application of the spatial practices' liminal qualities within architectural and interdisciplinary research.
