Acquiring ability for in-depth and comprehensive understanding of architecture and the city as specific forms of language and systems of communication, as well as ability to use gained experiences in student’s own professional, artistic and research practices. Also, understanding architectural discipline and architectural work as a complex system of different functions, where textuality is understood as a complex and widely set communication ability, in multiple contexts vs. work relations.

Students' ability to identify, understand and analyze architectural and urban text, its layers, and complex relations towards the context in which it emerges.

Concept of text. Urban space as text. Types of communication in the city. Architecture as a city language. Architecture as a media infrastructure. Aspects of textual in structure or space: narrative, marking, reading, interpretation, semantics, representation, spatial syntax, and similar. Text on architecture as the basis for the construction of discourse.
