The objectives of this course are: getting acquainted with the basics of universal design and applying the principles of "design for all" at different spatial and meaningful levels, defining the quality of space that is accessible to all groups of users of space, regardless of their diversity and familiarity with the legislation on accessibility.

Students develop the ability to perceive spatial, physical and other types of obstacles in the space and gain knowledge about ways of overcoming them, ie achieving accessibility in architecture and urbanism, which improves the functioning in different areas of life, or condition the development of an inclusive society. They also acquire the knowledge necessary to control project documentation from the aspect of accessibility.

This subject defines: universal design and its basic principles, accessibility, "design for all", specialized, adaptable and inclusive design. The existing physical framework or space that has yet to be planned and designed must respect the changing human needs and specifics of the users. The way in which space, facilities, means of transport, media, provision and reception of services are used, viewing and understanding of space, orientation in both the building and urban space should enable people to be independent, safe and ease of use. Contemporary knowledge on ways of removing natural and created obstacles in the area with respect to the Law regulations in the field of accessibility lead to a quality way of life of people which is the basic goal of architecture and urbanism.
