Establishing and developing the ability of critical observation, study, analysis and valorisation of a work of architecture (built or designed structure, competition paper...). Establishing the ability of synthetic thinking on architecture. Developing the relation towards theories of architecture and space, as well as individual theoretical thinking.

Ability and competence for the highest level of individual and team action in the area of theory and criticism of architecture and urban planning.

Classical theory of architecture and urbanism. Modern theories of architecture and urbanism. Postmodern theories of architecture and urbanism. Criticism in architecture and urbanism. Types, forms and methods of critical writing. Critical text in history. Modern and postmodern criticism in architecture and urbanism. City as a cultural context. The building as a cultural fact. Urban space as a public space (public good and the public interest). Urban planning and the preservation of the collective memory of the city. City as a palimpsest. Identity politics and the politics of representation ideological vision and value systems. Hybrid identities of cities, neighborhoods. Streets, parks and public spaces as spaces of cultural events. Professional ethics and its dilemmas.

Lecture, tutorials. Seminar paper and oral examination.
