Introducing students with historical and contemporary concepts and spatial contexts of large-scale architectural exhibitions, such are the Venice Biennial of Architecture and the EXPO-type exhibitions. Presentation of the spatial organization of various art exhibitions. Understanding principles of the contemporary approach to architectural results’ exhibiting. Understanding the principle of the architecture of events, which refers to the organization and realization of diverse typology of events. Understanding the typology of an event with a clearly defined spatial structure.

The students acquire skills of conceptualization, organization and physical realization of projects from the architectural and art exhibitions’ spatialization domain. Ability of the student to qualitatively analyze, systematize and compare the existing spatial concepts and designs in the field of architecture of exhibitions and events. Understanding factors in the organization of major events and the ability to creatively intervene in the spatial setting of the event.

The structure of the course consists of lecturing and practical work. Lecturing consists of the following thematic units: Architecture of exhibitions - introduction, definitions, terminology; The World Fair and its development path to the EXPO; Venice Biennale - Architectural vs. Art Exhibition; The Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space - spatial concepts; The concept of an architectural photography exhibition; Event architecture - definitions and terminology; Analysis and comparative arrangement of the large-scale spatially complex events (e.g. the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games). Practical work is organized thematically in the field of the architectural design of the exhibitions and events.
