General information:

Category Professional-applicative
Scientific or art field Architectural-Urbanistic Planning, Design and Theory
ECTS 7

Identifying the basic relationships between the elements of the built and the natural environment in urban and rural settlements, as well as in specific areas: central, peripheral, coastal, housing or work; Emphasizing the connection between architecture, urban environment and natural elements, pointing out the importance of combining buildings, urban structures, vegetation and water in order to achieve better functional, ecological, sociological, energy and aesthetic qualities of the physical structure of the settlement; Gaining the presentations techniques;

The ability to estimate the value and potential of the position and characteristics of each element and assembly in the settlement: the building, the urban plots, the streets, the square, the block, the coast, the park, the influence of their arrangement for the overall development of the settlement and the quality of life of the inhabitants and the attractiveness of the tourist offer of the settlement; The ability to perceive the individual elements of the area of settlements in a wider environment, the region, where special attention is paid to the coherence between created elements and natural landscapes, from more complex structures and vegetations to equipment and details in the space; The ability to present;

Within this subject, the elements of the settlement and its close environment are studied, the interrelations of the elements in the spatial sense (position and disposition, distance, etc.) are studied, the morphological meaning (size, dimensions, shape, dimension, configuration), physical sense (material, type, category), ecological (polluting or protective element), functional (purpose of the objects and vegetation), sociological (enables or prevents communication and organization of gatherings of different age groups of users, maintenance of manifestations), as well as in visual (identities, points of reference, landmarks, focal points) and aesthetic sense (pleasant ambience or visions). Some unfavorable situations are detected on this subject and they find solutions for their elimination. It will point to the ever more frequent connection of natural and created elements that provide man with complete comfort and provides the possibility of contact with nature. Special attention will be paid to: the concept of parametric design, modeling by using parameters and pointing to its advantages. The data flow and the strategy of creating a parametric algorithm, parametric definition of elements and their analysis, as well as the application of parametric models in architectural, urban design and design will be explained.
