Mastering students with the necessary theoretical and applied knowledge necessary for understanding principles of actuarial mathematics, especially in mathematics of non-life insurance and modeling of capital, mathematical and economic techniques of actuarial planning and controls necessary for the financially justified work of insurers.
Understanding the main principles and techniques of pricing and reserving especially in non-life insurance. Students can apply appropriate methods in different situations and contexts of insurance, as well as to analyze hypothetical scenarios and make appropriate proposals or recommendations regarding tariffs and modeling of capital.
Mathematical-statistical basis of non-life insurance. Ruin theory.Generalized linear models. The theory of credibility. Practical examples of determining the premium, the size of the claims and the compensation for certain types of property insurance.Technical reserves in non-life insurance and accounts. The insolvency theory of insurance companies. Retention line and methods of its determination. Determining maximum possible loss. Methods for determining loss reserves. Gross premium in non-life insurance. Applications: Mathematical and technical basis for determining non-life insurance premiums using actuarial packages.
Lectures. Consultations. Assesment: combination of a computer based modelling assignment with actuarila tools and optional tasks with additional points. The part of the material (that makes logical unit) is seminar paper and obligatory orally presented. Part of the materials that makes logical unit can be taken as partial exam that are part of the exam. Partial exam is in written form. The oral part of the final exam is eliminatory.
