ECTS 5

To provide students with the necessary theoretical knowledge from various areas of mathematics in order to fully understand and more easily accept selected artificial intelligence techniques as well as appropriate application understanding. The character of the subject is applicative; through the analysis of real data from practice, students are trained for teamwork and cooperation with the industry and economy.

The acquired knowledge is the basis for understanding the basic techniques of artificial intelligence and solving complex problems that require computational intelligence, and which cannot be solved using conventional mathematical approaches.

Basic elements of linear algebra and analytic geometry. Matrix decompositions. Vector analysis-differential calculus. Probability space and distributions. Convex optimization and gradient methods. Intelligent agents and their design. Searches. Games. Problems with constraint satisfaction. Presentation of knowledge and reasoning. Reasoning under uncertainty. Probabilistic reasoning. Machine learning (inductive learning, naive Bayesian classifier, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks). Deep learning (convolutional neural networks, autoencoders, deep belief networks). Decision making (rational decisions, making complex decisions).

Lectures. Consultations. Students work and pass the practical part of the material in the computer laboratory by solving mandatory tasks that are graded. The agreed part of the material (forming a logical unit) is submitted in written form as a seminar paper and is presented orally. Part of the material that makes up a logical part can be taken in the form of partial parts of the exam obligations that are an integral part of the exam. The partial part of the exam are taken in written form. The oral part of the final exam as well as the practical part are eliminatory.
