Acquiring knowledge, competencies and professional skills for solving complex tasks of process planning and optimization of manufacturing and assembly processes in production enterprises. Developing creative abilities and mastering specific skills for applying information and communication technologies in the course field.
After completing this course, a student is able to: Define and explain basic tasks of manufacturing process planning and optimization; Analyze product drawings, perform selection of a raw material, design conceptual process plans, determine machining allowances and specify operation sheets with the required resources (machines, tools, fixtures, measurement tools), machining parameters and machining times; Define all manufacturing backgrounds for the application of CAM systems for generating process plans and post processing information; Perform process planning for assembly processes; Define objectives and goals of optimization and enumerate basic optimization methods; Define rational variants of process plans and determine optimal variant on the basis of time and cost as objective functions.
Introduction to process planning. Technical preparation of production. Technological preparation of production. Product as an object of production. Technical and technological documentation. Manufacturing and assembly process. Product manufacturability analysis. Machining allowances. Machining and assembly accuracy. Possibilities of improving the quality of process plans. Process planning systems and methods. Technological (manufacturing) fundamentals for development and application of AFTs. Rationalization of process planning. Automation of process planning. Basics of CAPP systems. Assembly and disassembly process planning. Process reengineering. Basics of techno-economical optimization. Methods, objectives and goals of optimization. Analytical and experimental methods. Manufacturing time and cost. One and multi-criteria optimization of products and processes. Modern approaches in process planning and optimization and software support.
Classes are held in the forms of lectures, laboratory and computer exercises. Theoretical part of the course with typical examples from practice is represented on the lectures. Laboratory exercises are intended for applying the acquired knowledge through specific examples and work on the available equipment. Students are trained to apply information technologies from the course material on computer exercises. For the purpose of extending practical knowledge, company visits are organized. Consultations are held regularly in order to bring course material closer to development and fulfillment of required tasks and papers. Colloquiums refer to the theoretical part of the course, while the written part represents the exam that considers work on solving appropriate tasks.
