Professor Aleksandar Rikalovic was born in Loznica, Serbia, on December 6th, 1980. He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, University of Novi Sad, Serbia. He received the integrated B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Graphic Engineering and Design in 2006 from University of Novi Sad. Upon completion of the Master's Degree Program in Graphic Engineering and Design, school year 2007/2008 he enrolled in doctoral studies at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management. During his doctoral studies (2009 and 2011) he attended professional training at the Department of Mechatronics and Robotics, Vienna University of Technology. In 2013 and 2014 he is doing research for doctoroal disertaton at the University of Milan, Department of Informatics, Italy. In September 2014, he finished joint Ph.D. studies at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, University of Novi Sad (Serbia) and at the Department of Computer Science, University of Milan (Italy). His Ph.D. supervisors were prof. Ilja Cosic (Dept. of Industrial Engineering and Management, University of Novi Sad) and Vincenzo Piuri (Dept. of Computer Science, University of Milan). His Ph.D. theses titled "Model for Industrial Site Selection" is integrated model based on Geographic Information Systems, Fuzzy Logic and Multi Criteria Decision Analysis.

In June 2016, he finished Postdoctoral studies in Computer Science at the University of Milan, Italy. Same year he start working as Visiting Professor at the University of Milan, Department of Computer Science on the subject Intelligent Systems for Decision Support. During 2018, he is doing specialization in predictive analytics and edge computing at the Department of Mathematics, Natural and Economic Sciences (University of Ulm, Germany), Department of Computer Science (University of West Bohemia, Czech Republic) and Mitsubishi Electric EMEA (Ratingen, Germany). During 2019 he is providing lectures and trainings in Smart manufacturingat the Department of Applied Informatics (University of Technology, Kaunas, Lithuania) and Mitsubishi Electric-Southeastern Europe (Krakow, Poland). During November 2023, Professor Rikalovic participated at the seminar on "Artificial Intelligence and its Business applications for Belt and Road Countries" in Beijing and Shenzhen, China,   emphasizing implementation of Large Language Models cyber security.

His main research interests are: intelligent decision support systems, smart manufacturing, geographic information systems and multimedia. On these topics, he has published more than 30 papers appeared in international journals, proceedings of international conferences, books, and book chapters.  He is a reviewer in major international journals from his field of interest:IEEE Systems Journal, International Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making, Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Artificial Intelligence, Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Humanized Computing, Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Journal of Mechanical Engineering, Energy Strategy Reviews, International Journal of Geo-Information and International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Management. He has participated in many international research projects and projects in cooperation with industry. He is currently working on the Smart Factory development for Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0.

Professor Rikalovic is providing lectures in following subjects: Production systems; Production strategy; Production structure and location of the company; Product and process improvement projects, Advanced Intelligent systems for decision support, Multimedia and global media, Digital image processing, Risk analysis and information security.

He is a Head of Engineering Management Study Programs (BCA&MSC)(2022-).

He is a Senior Research Associate a the Research and Development Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia (2022-).

He is a member of the IEEE.

He is married, and his father of four children.
