Acquiring highly specialized knowledge in the field of material behavior at elevated temperatures and the effect of fire on structures.
Capability to estimate the actual fire load on structures and to classify the vulnerability of structures based on the main construction system.
General on fires: conditions of formation and types of fires in structures. Defining the relevant fire scenario. Design fire types. Thermal and mechanical properties of building materials at elevated temperatures (concrete, steel, wood). Structural systems in civil engineering. Fire resistance of building structures according to valid standards and regulations.
Lectures. Auditing and computer exercises. Consultations. Continuous monitoring of level of knowledge, colloquium and exam.
