Introducing students to real-life situations and problems that enterprises face in their business operations and understanding the sequence of steps involved in team problem solving in companies and industrial systems (emphasis on problem solving logic). The main objective of this course is to complement and integrate knowledge about methodologies of solving real business problems needed to engineering managers who occupy positions in different functions in the company.
Students who take the course and pass the exam are qualified to review the role and importance of identifying business problems for companies and industrial systems business functioning, make team decisions about problems solving and understand the business logic of various sectors.
Introduction: Business case study solving as a teaching method. The advantages of using case studies as a teaching method for students. Specifics of the financial functions of the company. The methodology of problem solving: Overview of 5C methodology. Creation. Cooperation. Context. Creativity. Communication. 5C methodology practical usage. The specifics of 5C methodology application within the financial function of the company.
Classes include lectures on the subject with examples of solving business case studies. In the exercises students are encouraged to work in groups, through team case solving, with an emphasis on the financial position of companies in different industries.
