Course specification

Course is active from 01.10.2013..

Establishing students ability for individual and group practical work on constructing scale models and maquettes of the st, stage, stage technical systems and architectural performing spaces.
To apply acquired knowledge in the further education process and professional work.
Introduction and the definition of the term modeling. The role of the scale model in architecture and stage design. Different aims and application of scale models in stage design. Modeling materials, tools and techniques. Geometrical principles, strategies and techniques in reference to various tasks of physical model production. Digital technologies in modeling.
Exercises are held in the modeling classroom- workshop. Teaching is conducted in three segments: theoretical part, demonstration and production of scale models. In the theoretical segment, various techniques and the role of the geometry and materials in making a model are described. Exercises consist from two assignments. The first assignment is done by students alone, and the other is predetermined as a team work, numbering up to 5 members. The course lacks formal final exam and is considered successfully passed if a student has accomplished his predetermined tasks through independent and team effort.
