Acquiring basic knowledge about dynamic indicators and performance of road vehicles, their interaction with the environment, influential parameters and methods of engineering analysis.
Ability of the student to independently and within the team perform the engineering analysis and design of road vehicles and their parts from the aspect of dynamic indicators and performance of the vehicle.
Basic approaches to vehicle modeling and division into longitudinal, lateral and vertical vehicle dynamics. Basics of the rolling wheel rolling mechanism: rolling resistance, volume and braking force. Tangential reaction of free, driven and braking points. The effect of aerodynamic forces on the vehicle. Effects of the gravitational force effect. Static and dynamic axial reactions. Transmission of power from the engine to the drive wheels, the influence of the transmission parameters, the impact of the acceleration. Vehicle model, parameters and equations of motion for longitudinal dynamics. Balance force, required and available volume force. Towing-speed vehicle characteristics (towing diagram). Traction-dynamic performance of the vehicle; Maximum speed, ability to master the climb, time and run times. Fuel consumption. Realization of the tangential force at the point: longitudinal sliding and adhesion of the drive and brake point. Braking process. Energy balance in braking. Kinematic indicators of the braking process, stopping path. Absorption, braking efficiency. Optimum and real distribution of braking force. Stability and handling of vehicles when locking wheels. Behavior of the tire under the influence of the lateral force, the concept of conveying. Moment of stabilization. Character of the dependence between the lateral force on the point and the angle of conveying, the basic influencing factors. Vehicle model, parameters and equation of motion for lateral dynamics. Stationary movement of the vehicle in the curve. Manageability, management modes, manageability indicators, influential factors. Transient motion of curved vehicles: basic maneuvers, basic aspects and characteristics of vehicle response, influential factors. Oscillatory characteristics of the vehicle.
