Enabling students to analyze complex engineering systems and the calculation of constructive elements. Use the finite element method for determining stresses and strains.
Ability for independent and creative using of knowledge and skills, solving problems in designing structural elements in engineering.
The theory of open thin-walled sections-basic ideas. Characteristics of thin-walled sections. Sector coordinates. Bending and torsion of the open thin-walled beams. Torsion of the closed thin-walled beams. Differential equations of a thin-walled rod. Special cases. Buckling. Lateral buckling of beams. Stresses in plates. Bulging of the plates. Statically indeterminate systems. Methods of solving. Matrix formulation of the problem. Use of the finite element method.
Lectures. Auditory exercises. In lectures, theoretical part of the material accompanied by characteristic examples. Exercises to work on additional tasks that extend the material in class. Consultation.
