Gaining basic and advanced knowledge in the field of hoisting machines (cranes, elevating platforms, industrial trucks).
Readiness for the individual work on the design and usage of machines in this field.
Basic characteristics of hoisting machines. Introduction into the limit state method for the proof of crane competence. Load lifting attachments. Crane hoisting drive: concept solutions, choice and calculation of elements. Lifting devices - jacks. Rail mounted crane/trolley travelling drive: concept solutions, choice and calculation of elements, travelling resistance, wheel slipping and skewing. Rope travelling drive: analysis of resistance and the influence of rope stretching manner. Slewing drive: concept solutions, elements, slewing resistance. Luffing drive: concept solutions, elements, analysis of loadings. Industrial cranes (basic characteristics, configurations and analysis of external loadings): bridge, portal and semiportal bridge cranes, harbour cranes (portal-slewing, container), wall and mast type jib cranes, tower cranes, S/R cranes, mobile cranes. Stability against crane overturning. Crane structure – defining the load combinations relevant for the proof of competence. Basic calculations (example of a bridge crane structure). Elevating (load and working) platforms – concept solutions, analysis of external loadings, stability. Forklift trucks: basic characteristics, concept solutions, stability. Procedure of designing the hoisting machines and producing its technical documentation.
Auditory lectures, theoretical part of the subject. Auditory, computational, laboratory, and computer aided practice classes. Students extend theoretical knowledge with practical examples in auditory classes. Driving systems of typical crane working devices and structures are calculated in the computational classes. The gained theoretical knowledge is applied using the disposable equipment in laboratory classes. Computer aided classes include the application of commercial software for crane designing and producing its technical documentation. Individual consultations.
